The battle of the consoles

e066719395f6acfb6395d9fa55f7246602235c85f8cf588c62efb56365612da1The Next Generation (Or is it current? Hard to keep up!) is upon us and the console wars have restarted. “Xbox is better because…, PS4 is better because…”

Why can’t we all just agree to disagree? It would save so much hassle! Actually, I can’t think of anything that could be saved by not having arguments about console superiority. If like me, you’re not clued up on technical jargon such as ‘DDR3’ and ‘shaders’, then it’s almost impossible to understand what everyone is talking about!!!

However, simpletons like me can still compare certain features on each console. Neither console accounts for ‘backwards compatibility’ so its bad news if you’ve acquired a large collection of games in the previous 8-year generation (is it previous now?).
The controllers are both brilliant, with Sony introducing a touchpad for theirs and Microsoft having integrated rumble motors linked to each trigger to give player feedback, which is great for games like Forza.

I’m fairly certain that the majority of people heard about the infamous ‘PS3 hack’ back in its early years, with thousands upon thousands of people having their credit card details stolen. This gave Microsoft an extra edge up in a competition which they were already winning anyway.
The software and hardware isn’t the only important thing when comparing the two consoles, because without the games themselves, these boxes would be completely useless… I’m talking about exclusives!!

Xbox One exclusives include Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, and Ryse: Son of Rome. PS4 launched with Knack, and Killzone Shadow Fall.
So no matter which console you go for, each will have something over the other. But all in all, your choice should be influenced by whatever you prefer, be it the exclusives, or social connectivity.

FYI – I will be enjoying the impressive exclusives on offer to the Xbox One, whilst my bank details remain safe and sound at Microsoft HQ.
